On June 19, the "2024 Blue Book on the Development of China's Green Hydrogen Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Blue Book") jointly compiled by the Gaogong Hydrogen Industry Research Institute (GGII) and 11 industrial chain enterprises [CIMC Hydrogen Energy, Trina Hydrogen, Cowell, Rongke Hydrogen Energy, Chunhua Hydrogen Energy, Zhongding Hengsheng, Longshen Hydrogen Energy, Sinoma Technology (Suzhou), Taijin New Energy, Jiangsu Hydrogen Rui, and Carvolo] (this article is ranked in no particular order) (in no particular order in this article) was released.

This Blue Book is a comprehensive report integrating industrial research, technical analysis and market forecasting, which is divided into seven chapters: industrial development background, technology status and trends, market status and development prospects, green hydrogen demonstration project analysis, investment and financing analysis, summary and induction, and introduction of representative enterprises. Through detailed data, the development status and future trends of China's green hydrogen industry are analyzed in depth, and a comprehensive and valuable information is provided for industry practitioners.

At this stage, there are four main technical routes in China in terms of hydrogen production technology, alkaline, PEM, AEM and SOEC, and the blue book has made a detailed analysis of the development of these four hydrogen production technology routes.

PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production has a wide load range and high hydrogen production efficiency, which is more suitable for the fluctuation and randomness of hydrogen production from renewable energy. Large-scale wind and solar hydrogen production projects have high requirements for the scale of hydrogen production from a single electrolyzer, which drives the development of PEM electrolyzers towards higher hydrogen production. Domestic PEM hydrogen production manufacturers have initially met the hydrogen production needs of large-scale green hydrogen projects in terms of hydrogen production rate in a single tank, and cost reduction and quality improvement have become the primary goals of the industry.

From the perspective of the selection of core materials for PEM electrolyzers, perfluorosulfonic acid proton exchange membranes are mainly used for proton exchange membranes, and they are mainly imported. Platinum carbon and iridium oxide are mostly used in PEM hydrogen production catalysts, and the gas diffusion layer has various forms of carbon paper, carbon cloth, titanium felt or plate mesh structure, while titanium plate platinum plating is used for bipolar plates.
